Cleaning your engine's filter is not only economically advantageous, it will cut down on pollutants in the air. In 2007 filters were fitted in the exhaust pipes to capture soot particles. These filters are called DPF's (Diesel Particulate Filters). They need to be professionally cleaned to maintain the life of the filter. It is recommended that you clean the filter every 80,000 to 120,000 miles.

Clogged DPF Filter
The soot is blocking the flow of the filter. This will limit the performance of the vehicle.
